# Competitive Landscape

## Building A Complementary Platform

In comparison to centralized platforms, decentralized social media platforms offer more privacy, security and control to users. Meanwhile, centralized platforms offer more control to the company or organization running them and are less resistant to censorship. Nonetheless, centralized platforms are still being widely used by the populous and this cannot be ignored. All too often, user content and conversations on centralized platforms get siloed and the information ultimately gets hoarded by the individual platforms in a self-serving manner.

As a result, there is presently a disconnect among social platforms to openly communicate with each other. Chayn recognizes this gap in the market as well as the benefits that both centralized and decentralized platforms offer. That said, Chayn has been structured to not only maximize the best attributes from both platform types, but to function as a complementary platform that helps bridge the gap between the two worlds.

Features such as the sentiment tag NFTs and sentiment oracles are ubiquitous in nature and illustrate the aspiration for Chayn to become the bridge that connects all social platforms. We believe this methodology favors the future of social. Competition will stem from platforms that model this approach as a more collaborative social space will help catalyze the advancement of the web 3 ethos.
